In Detroit, between the months of August and October, asters grow like mad: edging gardens, popping through sidewalk cracks, rambling along the edges of highways. They bloom in gravel parking lots, alongside wetlands, in sandy forest clearings, and in fields of heavy clay. They endure the brutal shift in seasons and a fair amount of traffic. Once you know how to recognize them, you can’t help but spot them. In a word, they are everywhere –just like the past.
Aster Public History offers sound, rigorous historical research and storytelling services. We are here to help you and your community better recognize and understand your history–not just where you have been but how it has shaped who you are today. So let’s pause and consider what we may see every day but not really notice.
Let’s Dig Deeper, together.
